Using an Envelope as a gift bag

The crafty secrets challenge this month is to use a regular envelope you have laying around at home, and make it into a cute gift bag! If you want instructions just watch this nifty video.
Here's what I came up with. I printed the orange background paper from the CD. Halloween Vintage cuts, dew drops orange bling, marshmallow glimmer mist, Helmar zapdots and tape runner.

It's all about Fairies today!

It's a fairy challenge using Crafty Secrets Products! There isn't any fairy type items on the CD so I went ahead and made some wings out of one of the papers on the CD for my layout! Helmar Tap Runner, ScrapDots and Crackle Medium on the title. To get this look I started out with an alpha that was kraft in color. I then used Jenni Bowlin Malted Milk Paint Dabber and Mellow Yellow Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze. After this is dry add the Crackle Medium for the crackle look.

When we went home to Nebraska two years ago, our boys wanted to see the cows and horses. These city kids got an eye full! Not only did they learn what "Come, Boss" meant, but they also got to see horses up close.

Why I've been AWOL

Thought it would be best to explain where I've been! On July 11th I had ACDF surgery with a one level fusion. I have to say the first 5 days were horrible. Low grade fever, reaction to what they used to clean my neck with, throwing up and nauseous. Great time. But by that Saturday I started to feel a lot better. Probably because I was able to keep some food down ;) As of right now I'm still unable to go back to work. Hopefully in the next week or two I'll be able to. I can only lift things that weigh the same as a milk jug, and for those that know me you know I'm going insane without being able to do much! Monday though I'm hoping to get back into the groove of things and to start designing and creating again! Thank-You to everyone who's supported my stores while I've been down. It's much appreciated!

Ok, ladies and gents, here's what I came up with! I printed this off and backed it once again on Kraft cardstock. I also used Helmar Zapdots to add dimension along with their Acid Free glue to put a "4" on the clock face then dumped glitter on top! Remember to add some inking around the edges, stitching and misting if you wish!

Hey guys! The owner of Crafty Secrets would rather have me link to their free printables on their website so you can grab those HERE! I'm sorry to those that wanted to make this card in a snap! I promise I'll come up with something different for you guys today to download! I printed on Core'dinations cardstock that had a great pattern on it! Also when you print make sure to use some kind of pop dots. I used Helmar's Tape Runner along with their Liquid Scapdots (this dries clear) and their Zapdots. Also feel free to ink, spray or paint as you wish. The calendar came from Creative Scraps: Calendar. The papers came from the new Digital CD. I added some Sew Easy stitching and also backed this on Kraft cardstock.

Childhood Memories

This is the first photo of myself that I've scrapped from my pile of photos of myself when I was a child. As you can see I "erased" some of the top paper to reveal a bottom paper.

I think my next step will do the birthdays that I have so it's not so overwhelming! I used the new Crafty Secrets CD to complete this layout! I would love to see some other childhood layouts that you may have done! Also, check out what the Design Team has done with this "Childhood" challenge!

A Beachy Mini

I found that I had a bunch of plain white board books laying around. I wanted to try out my new paint daubers from Jenni Bowlin to see what would happen. I then used Helmars Crackle Medium product on top and loved the way that it turned out, so I had to keep on going with it! I don't have any photos for the inside yet, but at least the front is done! I also used Kaiser pears, Shimmerz- Sunset Strip and MME Twine. As far as adhesives I used Helmars- Gemstone Glue, Zapdots and Liquid Scrapdots. The Liquid scrapdots works great for those little embellies that you want to add depth to. You're able to use as much as you want and it dries clear! I tried to get a close up so you guys can see how it dries. More pics here

On his way to his friends with his dad's cover on. How could I resist this photo! The background paper is from October Afternoon and the Members Only Die Cut is from Pink Paislee's Old School Line along with the white border that I painted yellow with Jenni Bowlin's paint dabbers. I lined it with twine using Helmar's 450 and used Liquid scrapdots to put on all the little alpha's and such. Those came from Echo Park.

A little mini album I did this weekend. I used a Punky sprouts mini album, Echo Park- For the Record, Luminarte H2O paint, glimmer mist, smooch mist, Helmar tape runner, scapdots, zapdots and 450 adhesive, Magistical Memories chipboard, Robins Nest Dew Drops.

The helmar adhesive that I used is PERFECT for clear projects because they dry clear!

Beloved Card

This is a simple card using a fun technique. I designed this viewfinder chipboard for Magistical Memories. Normally, I would paint first then add a crackle finish. This time I used Helmars Crackle Medium step one and two, then I sprayed with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist. I also used Core'dinations Impressions cardstock with Beloved from Creative Imaginations. I also used The Robins Nest Silver Dew Drops and craft glue to put them on, Helmar's Adhesive Tape Runner and Zapdots and Liquid Scrap Dots to adhere the butterfly.

Welcome to St Louis Teets'!

Our good friends got married on Friday and instead of Jason driving his truck home that night we left it in front of their apt. down town and he rode home with me and the boys after dinner. This is what we found when we went to pick it up the next day. Funny thing is this happened within yards of where a security officer sits and we had a generic police report waiting for us when we got there. Nothing was dusted or even taken as evidence, see that nice screw driver on the floor board ;) I know the city of St Louis is over ran with crime, I mean they're ranked #1 in the country I believe and for good reason ;) I think what bothers me the most, is Jason bought himself a navigation unit, subs you name it for his truck when he got his bonus a couple years ago. That's the one thing he did with it, which he completely deserved. And some people completely took that away. I'm hoping that our insurance (Geico) covers this. I made sure to add extra coverage onto his truck after we added all this to it. So I guess we'll find out Tuesday what the verdict is.

I made this album for my sister in law. Hopefully she's having a boy this month :D I used Helmar's Craft Glue to put the pages onto this 5 Tabbed Maya Road Album and their tape runner for everything else. I used Creative Imaginations Lullaby Boy Collection by IOD. The Robins Nest Dew Drops. Magistical Mememories chipboard painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint. Core'dinations White wash cardstock for the inner pages and tabs. Pea Lovey Dovey Font. WeRMemory Keepers Sew Easy, Jenni Bowlin Vintage Brown Stickers Alpha. I also glimmer misted the back cover instead of covering it with paper.

Altered Vintage Frame

We've had this huge frame sitting around the house for a while with no picture in it. So I decided that I was tired of looking at it ;) For this project I used the following

Helmar V2 Spray, Acid Free Glue and 450 Adhesive

Canvas Home Basics Twine and Canvas Shape

Liquitex Glossies Silver and Acrylic Black from Michaels

Bazzill Piglet from Tattered Angels

Shimmerz Sunset Strip

Unity Stamps- for the life of me I can't find the set I used on their site

Maya Road mini clothesline pins

Basically you need an old frame, some adhesive, stamps and your imagination :D

I started with spraying some V2 Adhesive onto the back of the frame piece. This didn't get as sticky as I wanted though. I think it had to do with the age of the frame. I then spread Helmar's acid free glue every where and spread it around. You can use a little water to get it a little thinner if you want. I then placed my papers on the backing. Feel free to put them on how ever you like. I got my vintage papers from collagestuff. After the paper is on how you like, make a mixture of Helmar's acid free glue and water. I also added the silver paint in this as well. Use a foam brush to brush on top of your paper. Let dry. Next, you can add your own stamps, paints journaling whatever you want to do. I opened up the bottle of Tattered Angles mist and painted a heart on the left had corner. I then sprayed the inside of the heart as well. For my canvas rectangle, I again used the paint/water/glue mixture on top then stamped images and sprayed with my mists. I then went over the whole thing with another misting of colors. When finished I used my twine and printed of some pics from my iPhone and used Maya Roads mini clips to attach them.

Simple Address Book

My mom wanted me to make her an address book for Christmas. I thought about one for her purse, but she tends to lose things in there ;) For her the best one that I could come up with is something to hang on the wall, this way it won't get lost anywhere.

Welcome! I hope you're having a great time hoping around and are full of ideas for the Holidays! I got my idea from a class that the girls of IOD did for their mops class! They found the instructions on this great site called Howdoesshe.com
Here's a list of supplies that you'll need to complete this project:

Downloadable Box Template (You can also use wooden cubes if you have them) Under "Google Docs" Click on File to Download original or to print.
Helmar Tape Runner
Helmar Liquid ScrapDots
Creative Imaginations- Night Divine Collection by IOD

~ Download the box template and cut out. If you have blocks you'll need to cut squares to put them on your blocks. If you're using wood I recommend Helmars 450 Adhesive or the V2 Spray.
~ After you have cut out your box template, choose four of the Night Diving papers and trace the template onto the paper. Cut out and fold where the lines and tabs are.
~ Use your Helmar tape runner to apply adhesive onto the tabs.
~ Fold squares upwards towards the tabs and press to adhere. I found it easier to put three sides together then to put the top on before adhering my last box side. Press all sides together to make sure your boxes are all together
~ Decide which two boxes your going to use for the numbers and ink the sides and set those aside.
~ Ink the next two blocks and set those aside
~ Grab your number boxes when they're dry and add numbers accordingly: *Block 1 - 0,1,2,3,4,5 and *Block 2 - 0,1,2,6,7,8 (Please make sure your number 6 is a font that can be flipped to look like a 9)
~ On the bottom two blocks *Block 1 add "Days To" and *Block 2 Either put Christmas or a cute Christmas square tag.
~ Put the four blocks together and use a long piece of ribbon to hold them into the shape of a square.

With the extra's create a cute and simple card if you're going to give this as a gift!

Helmar Holiday Hop

The holiday season is upon us and we are all working to get those gifts, cards and home decor items ready. We had so much fun with the last Halloween Hop, that we are doing it again!!!

On December 5th, the new Helmar Design team will be having a HUGE Holiday Helmar Hop. Filled with classes from our educators, projects from both our Aussie team and our USA team, as well as 3 amazing preferred vendors and 2 exceptionally talented guest blog hoppers.We know it says surprise, but we just can't keep these wonderful surprises to ourselves, so read on. It's going to be bigger than santa's toy bag!!!

I'm wondering if this is just a midwest thing, but does anyone else think this when you see this coming down from the sky? I really hope so! I used Creative Imaginations Beloved line from IOD, Helmar Tape runner, Scrapdots and Zapdots, Cosmo Cricket Number Alpha, Cloud from Magistical Memories covered in Crackle Paint by Tim Holtz and Martha Stewart's Garden Trellis Punch.

Stamping with Adhesive

Did you know that you could use glitter, adhsive and your acrylic stamps together? First get an acid free glue like Helmar's Acid Free Glue. Put a glob down onto a piece of scrap paper. Grab your favorite stamp, I used SIGH GUSH GASP from MyStampBox. Spread your glue out in a thin layer. Stamp your stamp into the glue and use a Q-tip to take of any excess outside the stamp areas if there is any. You'll see from my example why you may need to do this. Stamp onto your paper and cover with glitter or flocking. Tap off excess. Use warm water and a Qtip to clean off your stamp. Make sure to practice before using on a layout or card.

A couple pics I snapped with my iPhone of Brody begging! I used Paper Trunks- Rockabilly, Magistical Memories chipboard and die cut paper by Nicole Lombardo sprayed with Silver Foil Smooch and Gold Glow. I also used Helmar's 450 Adhesive around the edges of the chipboard then sprinkled Smooch glitter on the top. Helmar Zapdot's and Tape Runner was also used. Thickers Alpha as well.

A Halloween Dity

I hope everyone is ready to scrap your Halloween photos! I put together this cute litte decoration of our Halloween trip to JellyStone here in Eureka, MO. I took three Jenni Bowlin Halloween Bingo cards (you could use 3 more for the back if you have that many). Turn them over and secure them using tape. I had some cloth tape that I sprayed with Shimmerz Sunset Strip. Print off your photos and emebellish! I used Magistical Memories chipboard tab that I designed, Pink Paislee Hocus Pocus, Helmar ZapDots and Tape Runner and Kaiser bling. I hope this inspires you to do something different with those Halloween photos!

One of my new favorites is their V2 Vellum Adhesive. This stuff is so versatile and dries super quick and clear! I used it to spray on my chipboard after I traced out my paper. I also used their Zapdots in all sizes to add dimension to my wall hanging. The chipboard piece is from Magistical Memories and the papers were designed by my gorgeous friend Sara for Imaginisce. The highlight of my day!

Well yesterday anyways! First I had a patient tell me I looked 25, I'm pretty sure she's my new BFF. And Sally and Jo of IOD (Iron Orchid Designs) announced their new Design Team and I was over the moon to be added to their team! I've known the girls since their digital days, then they hit the big time by being added on to design for Prima and are now currently releasing with Creative Imaginations! You can see some of their new releases at ACOT, but they're probably at your favorite LSS as well ;) They are some of the sweetest girls I've met and I'm totally jealous of their sisterly bond!

I channeled my inner Martha today and decided to make my favorite frosting from scratch! Growing up we usually had German Chocolate cake I think for everyone's birthdays! Here's the frosting recipe I used! I did cheat and make my cake from a box because I completely ran out of time. I also saw on another blog that parchment paper works as a liner, especially for me because I can NEVER find cupcake liners in my Wal-Mart! I took an extra step and made it crafty though. You knew it was comin' right ;) I sprayed toothpicks with Helmar's VC Vellum Adhesive and wrapped the coordinating tinsel and also used die cuts from Pink Paislee's newest Hocus Pocus line. I then cut strips from my favorite paper of that line (wink, wink) and used my new Martha Stewart punch to make a unique edge. I then wrapped my paper around my cupcake. You could also mist your toothpicks if you don't have tinsel.

A little Sweet

I was lucky enough to collaborate with Pink Paislee on their Summer release of the Sweetness line! After sniffing the new smell of paper and rolling around it in for a little bit, I then felt better about cutting it up! I used Helmar's Liquid Scrapdots, because I wanted a lot of dimension and I didn't want to see anything behind what I was doing, because the font and the hearts are super small. This is where the clear liquid scrapdots can really come into play with crafting. You can get any dimension that you want and it dries clear. This makes it essential for the little elements of your scrapbooking or crafting. You'll be able to see how small some of these elements are and how high I was able to get them off my mini-album. I also used my chipboard viewfinder wheel from Magistical Memories and pearls from Kaisercraft. Along with Tim Holtz crackle paint and glimmer mist.

Not only did I keep the ScrapHD acquisition quiet which was super hard for me, but I've also kept this a secret as well! But I can finally come out with it :D I'm so excited to join such a great company! Not only do they have a HUGE range of products, but they are super nice as well. I believe in working for companies that I really believe in and can help support them in any way possible! Anyone that knows me knows that when I get involved in something I jump in with two feet and do everything I possibly can to help make the company successful. So I'm hoping I can inspire others with projects that I create with their products!

Last night I finished this FUN Hopscotch mini-album that I designed for Magistical Memories! The album will be for sale soon to retail and wholesale purchase! If you would like to order ASAP, please drop them a line at info AT magisticalmemories DOT com! All of the pieces come separate for you to customize! I dug into my stash and used Heartsong by Dream Street papers along with glimmer mist for the numbers and crackle paint for the number squares. I also used Helmar's Vellum spray to attach the paper onto the chipboard and their liquid Scrapdots and Zapdots.

A Quick Gift Idea!

I thought this would make a cute house warming gift! I printed off a design of mine through spoonflower fabric. I used Helmar's Vellum adhesive to attach the fabric on the Magistical Memories door hanger and their Craft Glue to attach the rest. I also used a little of Tim Holtz crackle paint around the edges.

As some may know, I provide graphics for Coolibah and now for TapNScrap scrapbooking apps. I started making wallpapers for iPhones so I thought I would put them up for anyone that wants them!

Instructions for IPhone Wallpapers.
Download and extract the file.
Edit in your photo program if you want to add a photo or do more to it.
Email the background to yourself after you're done altering if you wish to alter further.
Open your email from your iPhone.
Double tap on the image and SAVE it.
Go into your PHOTOS>Camera Roll
Tap on the Wallpaper that you saved.
When the photo comes up, tap on the far left box with the arrow coming out.
Select> Use As Wallpaper
Viola!

Please Note: computer monitor LCDs have a standard of 72 pixels per inch.
The iPhone’s screen will be extremely crisp and clear in comparison.

Is it can really take on a life of it's own once you start going! Instead of lines behind a circle embellie I went ahead and added journaling and moved the main focus to the right instead of the left. I used a clear Magistical Memories swirl that I cut off from a larger one and covered it with Tim Holtz crackle paint. I also used Webster Pages, Kaiser bling and Helmar adhesives.

Make sure you get your sketch challenge done this month for your chance at some free chipboard!

A Cute Little Mini

I wanted something to put our photos in from this summers vacation. I guess I'll have to choose a couple few to add in here, since I got a bit carried away! This is a Maya Road Canvas album that I spritzed with glimmer mist. The outside chipboard people are from Magistical Memories and I covered those with Pink Paislee tape. Flowers are from Maya road and everything else is from Websters Pages! I also used some rubons on the canvas which went on really well! I used Helmar's craft glue to put everything on. The bingo sheet and inside cover are from an old book. Peals are from Kaisercraft.
